Giving Back with Community Service PTO Days
Fort Financial’s founding is rooted in the principle of People Helping People. It’s something credit union leaders feel strongly about -- so strongly that every Fort Financial employee is given the opportunity to live out this principle with a unique employee benefit.
Each year, every Fort Financial employee is awarded Community Service PTO (Paid-Time Off). This time allows employees to select a community service project of their choice and give back to the community through volunteering.
Employees have used this time to help out in area schools, raise money for causes dear to them and assist with projects in their communities.
I had the opportunity to utilize my Community Service PTO this summer to help prepare for one of the City of Kendallville’s annual events: Patriotic Pops at Bixler Lake Park.
Each year, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic provides this free outdoor concert to celebrate the American spirit. Leading up to the concert, Bixler Lake Park needed some attention before it could welcome concertgoers.
I spent the day ensuring the park was clean, the grass was mowed and it was concert-ready. The Patriotic Pops performance is a highlight of the Philharmonic’s summer schedule, and I was thrilled to be a part of the preparation process.
A commitment to community service is just one of the many ways that set Fort Financial apart and keeps the People Helping People philosophy top of mind for our employees. If you are interested in learning more about the benefits our employment at Fort Financial, visit our Careers page.
