Angola Balloons Aloft: A Unique Summer Celebration
Hot air balloons dotted the skyline during the annual Angola Balloons Aloft (ABA), that took place July 8-10 at Angola High School, and it was another amazing event to be a part of!
Being a productive and active contributor to the Steuben County community is very important to Fort Financial. Our community is the reason we are here, and as the manager of the Angola branch, my staff and I look forward to continuing that relationship with everyone we can.
This year marked my third year being on the ABA committee, and I always take away such a huge feeling of pride in what my fellow committee members have done. We couldn’t do this event without the help of the community and the volunteers that are involved.
Serving as a member of the ABA committee is so exciting. Our planning meetings start months before the festival -- in February -- to get everyone on board and see what the year is going to bring us. We meet on a monthly basis leading up to the summer festival to make sure we don’t overlook any details. We take a lot of pride in hosting this festival for the community and attracting visitors from all over Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
This year’s event drew over 22,000 people! There were numerous hot air balloons this year, as there is every year, and many special shape balloons. But the festival has more to offer than just the beautiful, colorful balloons that grace the sky at dawn and dusk.
Many people come to enjoy the popular Family Fun Zone, where members of Fort Financial’s Angola branch are stationed during the two-day festival. The Angola branch staff looks forward to being at the festival every year, meeting and talking with festival goers, and selling tickets to the ABA’s Kids Zone, which has several bounce houses for the youngest spectators to enjoy.
Besides balloons and bounce houses, the festival always features a great assortment of local food vendors tempting festival goers with tasty treats and area artisans displaying homemade, one-of-a-kind goods and crafts for sale.
Being out in the community and helping families come together for a wholesome weekend of fun and entertainment is such honor for the Angola branch team. Fort Financial has been an event sponsor for the last three years, and we are committed to many more.
